Aubay Portugal has been actively supporting companies in their digital transformation journey, now accelerating this process through the use of artificial intelligence

In an interview with Jornal de Negócios, Pedro Gouveia, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Aubay Portugal, highlighted the sectors that can gain the most from AI. “The sectors that benefit the most from artificial intelligence are those that handle large volumes of information, such as banking, insurance and telecommunications.” He explained that AI boosts efficiency by automating repetitive tasks, such as customer service or complaint handling, delivering “an immediate benefit” to companies.

The importance of automation through AI

Pedro Gouveia emphasised the power of automating low-value, repetitive tasks. “AI can help transform repetitive and low-value tasks into something automated. This frees people up for truly human competencies: thinking strategically, speaking with clients, ensuring higher-quality services,” he noted.

Real-world success stories with AI

Aubay has been working with organisations to implement AI in process optimisation and faster decision-making. “I’ve seen companies automate data processing at an impressive speed, validate email addresses in seconds, and identify lead intent based on behavioural patterns. Sales teams are using AI to prioritise more intelligently,” said Pedro Gouveia.

He also shared innovative applications in healthcare, such as a hospital using AI post-surgery to collect patient feedback and enable immediate action if necessary. “That can have a huge impact. We can respond more quickly and actually save lives,” he added.

Overcoming AI adoption challenges

Despite its advantages, Pedro Gouveia acknowledged that some businesses are still hesitant to adopt AI due to cost and vendor lock-in concerns. However, he reassured that “this challenge has been completely overcome with today’s models. Developing AI solutions now also means total independence for companies in managing them, at very low cost.”

The future of AI in business

Looking ahead, Aubay’s CTO is confident in the growing role of AI in the corporate world. “AI will enter the corporate world in full force, and Portugal will be no exception. The original idea that it would replace humans is giving way to another concept: it frees organisations and their people to deliver greater value, faster,” he concluded.
