Women in Technology: 5 Inspiring Testimonials

In the world of technology, where innovation sets the pace and diversity is still a goal to be achieved, women have been gaining more and more ground, breaking down barriers and paving the way for future generations. Aubay Portugal is proud to count on the talent, determination, and creativity of many extraordinary women who make a difference every day.

To mark International Women’s Day, Aubay invited some of its consultants to share their insights and experiences about what it means to be a woman in the tech world. The company gives them a platform to raise their voices, share their challenges and achievements, and highlight authentic and inspiring testimonials:

Isabele Silva | UI/UX Consultant “For me, being a woman in technology means being resilient, curious, and determined. In a sector still predominantly male, it’s about making our voices heard, contributing ideas, and facing challenges without fear. It’s not just about delivering the best, but also allowing ourselves to make mistakes, learn, and innovate.

It’s about recognising and supporting other women, creating connections, and using our empathy and sensitivity as strengths in the search for innovative solutions. Together, we make technology a more diverse, accessible, and powerful space for all of us.”

Cláudia Gomes | Software/Web Developer “Being a woman in technology is a journey full of challenges, but also opportunities. The tech environment, historically dominated by men, often presents barriers, such as the lack of representation and implicit or explicit bias. Women who choose this career frequently have to prove their worth in a setting where gender equality is still a goal to be achieved.

A woman’s path in technology is often marked by the constant struggle to overcome stereotypes that this is ‘a man’s field’. Pay inequality, exclusion from decision-making spaces, and harassment are still issues that affect many women in this industry. Fortunately, many stand out and make history, proving that competence and innovation know no gender.

Being a woman in technology is a constant challenge, but also a unique opportunity to show just how essential diversity is for the advancement of this field. Female empowerment can inspire new generations to believe there are no limits to their ambitions—whether as programmers or founders of major tech companies.”

Sandra Pacheco | Project Manager “Being a woman in technology is challenging, but also rewarding. I face obstacles, but every achievement is a victory that inspires other women to follow the same path.”

Gabriela Ribeiro | Cybersecurity Engineer/Security Operations “Being a woman in technology is a valuable experience. It’s challenging and full of obstacles, but ultimately, it’s an incredible adventure. During my academic studies, I was the only girl in my class. Despite feeling out of place in a predominantly male environment, with dedication and courage (especially to make mistakes), I managed to overcome unnecessary comments and the belief that I wouldn’t be capable of working in this field.

I’m confident that, in the near future, many women will also be able to break through these barriers and occupy important spaces in technology.”

Evelyn Perez | Frontend Developer “At first, I didn’t like this question. I felt that, in a way, it reinforced the prejudice around being a woman in technology. But over time, I realised that my own journey was shaped by an initiative that taught programming to women.

For me, the best way to get more women into technology is through encouragement—motivating girls and women to explore technological fields, to study, and to follow the paths they want. Today, I carry that with me. I’m here because I want to be, because I enjoy it, and because others helped me get where I am. And now, I make a point of contributing so that more women have the same opportunities!”

On this International Women’s Day, Aubay Portugal celebrates the strength, resilience, and talent of all the women on its team and across the technology sector. The company will continue to promote equality, inclusion, and inspire new generations to forge their paths with courage, creativity, and confidence.
